Your child’s first dental exam is an important milestone in healthy development. We know you want your child to feel safe, which can reduce stress to you, so the following recommendations will help you help your child.

Bring your child in for dental examinations before their first appointment to allow them to become familiar with our office

Read children’s books to them about the dentist, such as Sammy the Centipede Goes to the Dentist before your child’s appointment

Bring children in before dental problems arise to ensure they don’t associate the dentist with pain

Allow them to bring their favourite book, toy and blanket for their first visit

Before their first visit, talk to your child and let them know you both will visit the dentist together

If your child is fearful or anxious, let us know ahead of time so we can help

Explain to your child that they get to sit in the chair this time, while the dentist just looks around

We are also experienced and ready to help children with special needs, so let us know ahead of time so we can ensure your child is as comfortable as possible
